"Unpacking the Unknowns - Sweden and the Global economy"

We are delighted to announce our second event in the series and to host H.E. Austin Gormley, Irish Ambassador to Sweden.

Ireland’s recovery and the role of trade and business – a perspective from Stockholm and Shanghai.

With unprecedented global uncertainty and an increase in tension between economic superpowers, it is getting more and more difficult to plan for both business and growth. Our ICCS series of events this winter season will unpack and explain in ‘plain speak’, the current global and local economic mega-trends. With the support of expert speakers and engaging dialog, the series will help our members and their guests to better plan for 2021 and onwards

Austin Gormley is Ambassador of Ireland to Sweden.  He previously served as Director General of the Corporate Services Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs from 2017 - 2020.

From 2015-2017 Austin Gormley was Director of Ireland’s Passport Service.  He served as Consul General of Ireland in Shanghai, China from 2011 to 2015 and prior to that was Communication and Education Director for the Irish Aid programme.

He has served in the Department of Foreign Affairs for over twenty-five years including at the Consulate General in New York City, as Chargé d’Affaires in Sofia, Bulgaria and at the Embassy in New Delhi, India.  Other positions held include policy roles in the political, development cooperation and trade divisions within the Department.  Private sector experience includes three years in Paris, France.  Austin holds a Bachelor of Management Science from Trinity College Dublin (1989) and an MBA from ESCP Europe, Paris (1999).

This event is open to members and their guests. Members can register guests when they do their own registration, or afterwards by mailing contact@irishchamber.se.
