Unpacking the Unknowns - Sweden and the Global economy

With unprecedented global uncertainty and an increase in tension between economic superpowers, it is getting more and more difficult to plan for both business and growth. Our ICCS series of events this winter season will unpack and explain in ‘plain speak’, the current global and local economic mega-trends. With the support of expert speakers and engaging dialog, the series will help our members and their guests to better plan for 2021 and onwards


Dr Mike Winnerstig, Head of the Department of Security Policy, Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI)

Dr Mike Winnerstig is the head of the Department of Security Policy at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of the War Sciences. He has been a research fellow at several universities and international institutes, including the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard University, USA, the Centre for Defence Studies, Aberdeen University, UK, and the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (Germany). He has published extensively on the security and defence policy of the United States, NATO, geopolitics, the security of the Baltic Sea region, and Swedish-Finnish defence cooperation. A former researcher/teacher at the Department of Political Science, Stockholm University, he has also given courses on international relations theory and European security for several years at the Estonian School of Diplomacy, Tallinn. 

The Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) is one of the leading defence and security research agencies in Europe and provides security policy analyses and performs assessments of various types of threat. FOI has experts in many fields of application, such as security policy studies and analyses of defense and security, assessments of various types of threats, systems for crisis leadership and management, protection against and management of hazardous substances, IT security and the opportunities provided by new sensors.  

The talk is open to members of the chamber and their guests, a guest may invite up to 3 members. Guests can be registered when the member makes their own registration, or later by emailing contact@irishchamber.se.
